Put Your Time Where Your Mouth Is

Hey Y’all!

I have always had a heart to help others who may not be able to help themselves. I mean, how many of us have watched a commercial or seen an individual while we are out and about that could just use a a boost? Not necessarily a handout but true assistance in one form of another, aside from just money. Often times, the immediate response is “they need help” or “I hope there is someone who can help them” but the reality is, we are all capable of providing help. While it is not always feasible to do in certain moments, help can often just be described as hope.

Where we spend out time is usually where you see our heart. The strings to our purses (and wallets) tend to lead to the fibers of our inner being that make us react the fastest. But what about our words? How will what we speak affect what we do? Love is an action word. For those of us who identify as Christians, it is the very love of Christ that abounds in our hearts. Does that apply to how we treat strangers also? Even if you do not confess Christ as your Savior, how much compassion should be extended to causes? When we do identify that there are things that we feel called to do, it is easy to throw money in the form of donations or financial partnerships. But what about your time?

Yea, it may cost us time getting paid at work. Sure, may cut into extra sleep or time alone. It could potentially even mean we have to flee the comfort of our homes and circumstances to make it happen…but so what! I encourage you all, to link arms with me and head out into the world around us to make a difference. I have always had a heart for children and the elderly and lately, the pull to encourage mothers has been heavy on my heart. I am excited to see not only the outcome of ideas set into motion but the lives made better because of it.

As a child I wanted to grow up and be the female version of Nelson Mandela (show a kid a documentary, I tell ya) and after that I wanted to attend an HBCU and run for President of the United States and my BFF of the past 22 years had signed on (even back in 8th grade) to be my VP. But as life has it, plans change. I have let, for too long, dreams deferred become ideas that shriveled. Time to nurture them back to life and it’s something we are all capable of. Do what you can, and maybe that means just donating money or items. But if you can put your time into a cause that stirs your heart-imagine the fruits of your labor.

Let’s change the world around us, one person at a time!

Much Love,

Q
