Hey Y’all!
I’m Raquila-D’Nai (it’s a mouthful but is pronounced, Ruh-kill-uh Duh-nay)! As a former military spouse and stay-at-home mom, it was important for me to not only care for my family now but to look ahead and prepare for life in the future. Fast forward a few years and now, as a single mom and professional (add to my list of titles: teacher, blogger, podcaster and professor), my desire to use my gift of of words has come full circle. My friends joke that I have 86.7 collegiate degrees but I’ve earned three and a certification as a life coach. Those degrees include two undergraduate degrees with concentrations in psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Guidance and Counseling. I have found my power not in titles and diplomas but in contentment and discovery. As a crafter, word fancier and master-doer-of-stuff, I have honed in on what makes my heart tick. I am drawn to words and encouraging others. Using the skills I have refined managing all of the hats I wear to connect with my audience has allowed me to help bring forth creativity and inspiration.
Now for a little history…
I hope you stick with me after this next sentence, because success is all-inclusive! Before listing any other titles or descriptions I have to that I am believer in Jesus Christ and my professional practices that are based on biblical principles I have learned and implemented to be successful in life and business. He has made it possible for me to be all that I am now.
I am no more talented, gifted or special than you or any other person that God created but I have DECIDED to accept all that I am (pretty-likable yet flawed) to help you start living out the desires of your heart. I grew up an only child of divorced parents and an Air Force brat. We moved from Washington D.C. to Puyallup, Washington (home of the fair with the most delicious onion burgers EVER) where I spent most of my adolescence. I have two daughters who are incredible human beings!
Above all other titles consider myself to be an Overcomer. Why? Because, 1 John 5:5 “Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” I have overcome so many things only by the unconditional Grace and Mercy of Jesus. You name it, I probably did it (twice); addiction to alcohol, heartache, failure, quitting, frivolous retail therapy (AKA debt), depression, low self-image, and the list goes on. I have also been blessed with an awesome circle of people who loved and supported me through those complex and (sometimes dismal) experiences. It is from those dark times and great triumphs that I gained the experience, knowledge and wisdom that I now use to equip others in overcoming obstacles by thinking outside of the box and focusing on idea implementation. Normal is different for all of us, but in every person lies that desire to have an unconditional life, being free to explore, excel and design our best selves. Let’s link arms and journey through curating unconditional lives, together!
